Everybody around you is just as self-conscious as you are
Yes, that super jacked dude. Or that thin or jacked fit woman on the elliptical. They aren’t focused on you, because they are too busy living inside their own head wondering if everybody is thinking about them.
Everybody starts somewhere
You don’t look good so that you can then go to the gym. You go to the gym to get stronger, more confident, and then look good.
Most will applaud you for trying
When I see somebody who is severely overweight at the gym, it makes me happy they are trying to better themselves That’s freaking awesome. This is the mentality 90+ACU- of the people will have.
Many will be too self-focused to even notice you
These are the dudes lifting up their shirt in the mirror to check their abs, doing bicep curls in the squat rack, and/or making sure they take photos to post on Facebook to prove they did in fact go to the gym.
Bodyweight Squat
You squat every time you sit or stand, but don’t take this exercise for granted. It works your legs and your glutes, the most powerful muscle group in the body.
Push-Up
There is a reason push-ups are a go-to exercise for body builders. They effectively work the muscles in your shoulders and chest.
Mountain Climbers
This exercises mimics the motion climbers make as they climb steep peaks, except it’s done on the soft, flat surface of your floor. Mountain climbers are total body workouts, building strength in your core, back, arms and legs, not to mention your heart.
Plank
A commonly seen exercise, plank helps build strength in the core, shoulders, arms and legs. Plank tones your abs and builds strength in your upper body. Additionally, planks strengthen both the abdominal and low back muscles simultaneously and can have a beneficial effect for people with low back pain.
