Hair loss, rapid weight loss question.. will it grow back?
I'm a 22 year old male, my hair is medium fine, shoulder length, I've always had a very full head of hair.. Recently I dropped 30 pounds in a few months, I wasn't eating, I was fasting and consuming well under 1000 calories a day, at the very least I consumed 400.. I went from 186 to around 154, I'm 5'11 I've returned to a normal diet for the past month.. But my hair is still coming out, my crown looks thinner and patchy.. Overall my hair is much thinner, no change in hair line.. My mom and my family say they can't notice any change(I've bugged them so much) and think I'm obsessing.. But I know I'm losing an unusual amount of hair.. A dermatologist told me it looked like stress and diet related, he didn't even entertain the idea of genetic hair loss.. I think I got bad advice from him.. I've also been under tremendous emotional stress lately.. My question is, has anyone else been through this? will my hair grow back? Is this going to stop? All males on my mothers side of the family have hair well into their 40's.. my grandpa is 80 with full head.. And I have similar hair line to them.. My dad is bald though.. His family is hit or miss hair loss.. My thyroid is normal.. The only thing my bloodwork turned up short on was Vitamin D.. So I'm on a multi vitamin.. I couldn't afford the prescription Vitamin D I was given..
